December 15, 2015 Tuesday
Here is what we did today:
Upon arrival the children were able to look and experience worms at the table. When we were done, we put them all in a container and closed the lid until Center Time. (Yesterday, we didn't put the lid on and 2 of the worms escaped!)
Choice Time: We practiced for the upcoming Holiday program and played with the parachute.
Circle Time: We read the story, "If You Take A Mouse to the Movies." It is a holiday book about a boy and his mouse and all of the activities they did on a day in December.
Snack Time: Huey brought Veggie Booty Corn/Rice Cheese puffs and juice for snack. Thank you Huey!
Center Time: All of the centers were open for the children to play. The worm container was opened once again and the children were allowed to look at the worms, see them under a magnifying glass, touch them, and some were even so brave as to hold them in their hands! Who would have thought we would be playing with worms in December!
Next time we meet is our Holiday Program at 10:30. Hope to see you all then!
(Sorry no pictures as I left my phone at home today!)

We have a mystery!
Here is what we did:
Today, when the children first came in, there were 4 worms on the discovery table for them to look at. (I had found them this morning on the sidewalk when I walked my dog.) The worms seemed very lifeless and we left them in open containers while we went on with our day.
Choice Time: During Choice Time, we practiced for the Holiday Program and played with the parachute as a large group.
Circle Time: As we went back to the rug to do our Attendance Book and story, "If You Take A Mouse To The Movies," we noticed that 2 of the worms had escaped! :o We looked everywhere and could not find them! .
Snack Time: Ellie brought goldfish and apple juice for snack. Thank you Ellie!
Center Time: While we were playing at all of the centers, Mrs. Christenson came into the room with one of the missing worms! :) (Never found the other one I am sorry to say. It is still a mystery!)
Remember that our Holiday program is Wednesday at 10:30. Bring a plate of cookies to share to celebrate a wonderful first semester of preschool!

A beautiful day!
Here is what we did:
Choice Time: We spent time rehearsing for our upcoming Holiday Program. We also got a little wild and crazy with the action songs entitled, "Animal Actions."
Circle Time: We read the book, "Bear Says Thank You." In this book, a polar bear asks his mother for art supplies. Every time his mom brings him something, he says thank you. And then, when he gives his mom the art project he makes for her using these supplies, his mom says thank you in return. It allowed the opportunity to discuss the importance of thanking people in many different situations.
Snack Time: We made tortilla cheese pinwheels for Cooking Day. On Wednesday, we celebrated Addison's birthday. Happy Birthday Addison. On Thursday, we celebrated Jackson T, Jaxson S, and Huey. Happy Birthday Huey!
Center Time: All of the centers were open and there was painting at the easel. On Wednesday, Cheryl Winger was our parent volunteer and the children enjoyed the extra adult to play with them. Thank you Cheryl!
Have a great day and enjoy the warm temperatures! Pictures are below.

Here is what we did today:
Choice Time: We had 3 choices: obstacle course, tabletop easels, and make-believe mouse houses.

In the story, a puppy named Biscuit was a naughty puppy who took a candy cane off of the Christmas tree, ate the Christmas music off of the piano, pulled down a stocking off of the mantel, an ate a gingerbread cookie. We discussed the fact that despite Biscuit being naughty, his owners still loved him and wanted him to be a part of their family.
Snack Time: On Monday, Colin brought cheese sticks, pretzels, and milk. Thank you Colin! On Tuesday, Holden brought goldfish and apple juice. Thank you Holden!
Center Time: All of the centers were open and there was painting at the easel.

A time to count!
With the holidays fast approaching, opportunities for counting are all around.
Here is what w did today:
Choice Time: The children all played a group game called "Musical Hugs." In this game, the children move around hoops to music. When the music stops, the children must stop moving and put a foot in a hoop. The game continues until only one hoop remains and the children must get in close and do a group hug to fit.
Circle Time: The book read was entitled, "Ten Gingerbread Men." It was a counting book.
Snack Time: On Monday, Angel brought muffins and milk for snack. Thank you Angel! On Tuesday, Cael brought graham crackers and apple juice. Thank you Cael!
Center Time: The children were given an opportunity to make a blotto print at the art table. They got to choose different colors of paint and then folded over the paper on top and rubbed the paint around to make a beautiful picture. These pictures will be hung in our hall. They look great!
More pictures are below. Have a great day!

Winter has arrived! Please note that we will not be going outside in the winter weather. No boots will be needed at preschool for this reason. If your child needs to wear boots for some reason, please send appropriate school shoes for them to change into for our inside activities.
Here is what we did today:
Choice Time: The children could choose between an indoor "snowball" fight using bath poofs, table top easels, or a fine motor activity where they put rubber bands around cans.
Circle Time: We read the book, "Who Will Carve The Turkey This Thanksgiving?" It is a story about a boy whose imagination runs wild as he tries to answer the question Who Will Carve The Turkey? At the end, Grandpa and Grandma arrive at his house and carve the turkey.
Snack Time: On Monday, Andon brought bananas and chocolate milk. Thank you Andon! On Tuesday, Addelyn brought goldfish and apple juice. Thank you Addelyn!
Center Time: All of the centers were open but no painting was at the easels due to the Thanksgiving break.

Here is what we did today:
Choice Time: We stayed inside for Choice Time. The 3 choices were: tumbling, a turkey coloring page, and a tabletop activity that went along with our story.
Circle Time: We looked at all the food the children brought in to donate to the food pantry. We also counted all the cans and discussed how happy those people will be to get them. Thank you to all who contributed!
We read the story, "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie." This was a Thanksgiving story in which an old lady came for dinner and ate so much that she turned into a balloon at the Thanksgiving Day parade. After we read the story, we retold it using laminated pictures that we put into the mouth of a laminated old lady with her mouth open.
Snack Time: On Wednesday, Addison brought goldfish crackers and apple juice. Thank you Addison! On Thursday, Ben brought vanilla wafers and chocolate milk. Thank you Ben!
Center Time: All of the centers were open and there was painting at the easel.
Pictures are below. Thursday's class appears first, Wednesday's is second. Have a great day!

Here is what we did today:
Choice Time: We stayed inside for Choice Time due to the rain. Our 3 choices included parachute play, magnadoodles, and a turkey coloring page.
Circle Time: We had a "shoe style shoe." We read the story, "Pete the Cat and His New White Shoes." This was an audio book and was such a hit that we listened to it twice. In the story, Pete had brand new white shoes that turned red when he stepped in strawberries, blue when he stepped in blueberries, brown when he stepped in mud and wet when he stepped in a tub of water. When ever his shoes changed, Pete did not cry. (Goodness No!) It was all good!
Snack Time: On Monday, Wesley brought goldfish and apple juice. Thank you Wesley! On Tuesday, Brogan brought graham crackers and strawberry milk. Thank you Brogan!
Center Time: There was a new castle in the construction area. All of the centers were open and there was painting at the easel.
A few pictures are below of the shoes in the style show and the parachute play.
Have a great day!
