We had a wonderful Halloween party!  Thanks to all who donated supplies, came to the party or helped in any way!  We wouldn't have had as much fun without you!

Here is what we did:  On Wednesday we had a Halloween snack of clementines, cupcakes and juice on pretty Halloween napkins.  On Thursday, we had a snack of a frosted cookie and juice also on pretty Halloween napkins.  On both Wednesday and Thursday, we played party games including tattoos, spider web cotton ball toss, ghost bean bags, and pumpkin' chunkin' catapults.

Everyone looked so cute in their costumes!  Have a safe and fun Halloween!

October 26/27, 2015 Monday/Tuesday

Pictures from Thursday are above.  Pictures from Wednesday are below.

Here is what we did:

Choice Time:  We went outside for Choice Time.   There was a moldy pumpkin for the children to look at.  It made for some interesting discussion.

Circle Time:  We passed around a pumpkin that had just been opened but did not have any of the seeds removed.  Next class time this pumpkin will be a jack-o-lantern.  We read the story, "The Big Green Monster."  This story is always a favorite and there are many ideas and activities to go along with it on Pinterest if you would like to do something at home with your child related to the book.    We looked and listened to the "Big Green Monster" song on my ipad that I had found on the site.

Snack Time:  On Monday, Paxton brought Cheese and Crackers and Juice.  Thank you Paxton!  On Tuesday, Kolsyn brought beef sticks, crackers and juice.  Thank you Kolsyn!

Center Time:  All of the centers were open and there was painting at the easel.

Have a great day!  Pictures from Wednesday class are below.

Pictures from Tuesday/Thursday are above.  Pictures from Monday/Wednesday are below.  As you can tell from the smiles, they are having fun at school!

Here is what we did:

Choice Time:  We went outside for Choice Time.  Several of the children enjoyed picking corn off of the cob.  Some of the children took the corn cob and used it with chalk to decorate the chalk board.

Circle Time:  We read 2 stories today.  "Find A Pumpkin"  was a story about a duck and a goose that were looking for a pumpkin. This was a simple story that many of the children could "read" on their own in the reading center.  The second book we read was "We're Going on a Ghost Hunt."  This story was a story of some children at Halloween that went on a ghost hunt.

Snack Time: On Wednesday, Owen brought cheese puffs and almond milk for snack.  Thank you Owen!  On Thursday, Kai brought apple slices and chocolate milk.  Thank you Kai!

Center Time:  All of the centers were open and there was painting at the easel.

A Windy Day!

Here is what we did today:

Choice Time:  We went outside for Choice Time.

Circle Time:  We looked at an ear of corn today. We passed it around the circle and talked about the parts of an ear of corn like the husk, kernel cob, etc.  We also read the story, "The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything."  In this story, a little old lady takes a walk in the woods and comes upon the following things:  shoes, pants, a shirt, some gloves, a hat and a pumpkin.  These things did not scare her but she was sure to go quickly to her home and close the door.  The next morning when she woke up, the things had turned into a scarecrow.  This story had picture pieces that went onto the felt board and allowed the children to retell the story afterwards.

Snack Time:  On Monday, Mia brought cheese sticks, raisins, and  milk for snack.  Thank you Mia!
On Tuesday, Jocelyn brought goldfish and juice.  Thank you Jocelyn!

Center Time:  All of the centers were open and there was painting at the easel.

Don't get blown away!

Birthday/Cooking Day!

Here is what we did:

Choice Time:  We were able to go outside for Choice Time.  We found some insects in the block box.  We looked at the big seed pod that Huey brought to school.  We enjoyed being outside.

Circle Time:  We passed around a bumpy, little, yellow pumpkin with a brown stem with a black spot on the stem.  We also read 2 books.  The first book was a giant book about growing pumpkins.  It was a good review of the things we saw at Shady Knoll Pumpkin Patch.  The second book was a little book that children could read along with me, "Five Little Pumpkins."

Snack Time:  We popped popcorn in an old fashioned popcorn popper and let the children see up close how it all worked.  We also served pretzels and juice.  Two children celebrated their birthdays:  Cael and Kyla.  We celebrated by singing them Happy Birthday and eating a birthday brownie.  They both had treat bags to pass out at the end of the day.  Happy Birthday to Cael and Kyla!

Center Time:  All of the centers were open and there was painting at the easel.

Thank you to Addelyn's mother Shawna for being our parent volunteer!

Enjoy the day and the weekend!

Circle Time:  We looked at some different leaves on the rug.  Some leaves were yellow, some green, one was brown and one was orange.  We talked about the parts of a leaf.  The story we read was entitled, "Leaves, Leaves, Leaves."  After we read the story, we discussed the following questions:  What season is it when the leaves fall?  What color are leaves?  What makes the leaves fall?  What can you do fun with leaves?

Snack Time:  Jaxson S. brought Minion Graham Crackers and Juice for snack.  Thank you Jaxson!

Our parent volunteer was Mason's mom, Nicole.  Thank you Nicole!

  Have a great day!
